Although it’s frosty winds have begun to claw at our vulnerable morning skin, winter is still a season away. There’s still plenty of time to chop wood, replace the screen windows and rake the leaves. There’s no reason to rush into winter rituals, for once it arrives, it will overstay its welcome by several months. Winter is exciting. It’s something to ard to the impending winter and all the new possibilities it will bring, take it all with a grain of salt.

For fans of the hit series “The Fosters,” this may prove more difficult. The show returns for its second season in January. Once again, it’s another reason to look forward to the frigid months, one that won’t necessarily fade as they drag on. Each week, new episodes will get viewers through the week as they plan their weekly schedules, keeping consistent with its allure and entertainment. And for those of you who simply cannot wait for the show to return, despite the blankets of pillowy snow that will come along with it and will quickly turn into disgusting sludge, a handful of details from production help calm the angst.

And who better to amp up the excitement than Rosie O’Donnell. That’s right. Good ol’ Rosie. According to TVLine, she’ll be joining the cast in the recurring role of Rita Hendricks, a tough yet compassionate woman who works in the foster care system and becomes a mentor and a role model to one lucky member of the Foster group.

“The Fosters” will return to ABC Family in January.
