According to information posted on El Universal website, after Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's defeat against Floyd Mayweather, memes that mock the Mexican boxer started to appear in social networks. On Twitter, users posted sarcastic comments about the fight.

The article notes that Floyd Mayweather "taught him how to dominate the entire fight," achieving a victory by majority decision which triggered jokes and criticism from fans who considered El Canelo too slow, comparing him to a "log."

On Twitter, the hashtag #TodosconCanelo was trending since the fight started on Saturday, Sept. 14, until Sunday, Sept. 15, but during the fight, cheers and encouraging messages to Canelo quickly turned to taunts and jokes against him for his terrible defeat.

The newspaper showed some of the messages that were posted on Twitter: "#TodosConCanelo because today I watched my dachshund fight against a Saint Bernard, and I remember him."

"TodosConCanelo No, El Canelo is a true punching bag, made out of publicity, as a boxer he won't get very far, he has no technique".

"Todos con Canelo, Don't worry!!! Canelo, everyone at some point in their lives has a BLACK day!!! #VamosCanelo."

The teasing of Canelo by memes started to appear with images of him being compared to The Simpsons' episode where Homer is completely knocked out in a box fight. Another message said, "But at least I went to Las Vegas," while another expressed, "At least I made more points than the National Team," referring to the bad performance that the Mexican soccer team had in their Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifying matches.

Cracks sport site shared Saul Alvarez's statement at the end of his fight against Floyd Mayweather in which he said, "There is no doubt that he is a great fighter, very smart. I didn't know how to beat him. The only thing I can say is that he is a very talented fighter, who dodges very well and I didn't know how to reach him, it's that simple."
