Apple's iOS platform is closing the gap against Google's Android when it comes to the latest smartphone operating system market share figures for July 2013.
According to comScore, iOS was the only mobile operating system to see gains for the three months ending in July in comparison to the three months ending in April this year.

The iOS increase, however, was not enough to topple Android.
The Google mobile operating system finished another three months at first place with 51.8 percent of the market share. The consecutive first-place finish came with a 0.2 percent loss from the three months ending in April 2013 when the Google mobile platform garnered 52 percent of the market share.
iOS finished the three months ending in July this year with 40.4 percent of the market share, which is up 1.2 percent from April's 39.2 percent.
BlackBerry maintained its third place position despite encountering a 0.8 percent drop. BlackBerry finished the three months ending in July 2013 with 4.3 percent, down from April's 5.1 percent.
Microsoft also upheld its fourth place position with 3 percent of the smartphone operating system market share. The Windows Phone platform, however, saw no changes.
Finally, Symbian completed the top five mobile platforms provided by comScore. Symbian received 0.3 percent of the market share for the three months ending in July this year, which is a loss from April's 0.2 percent.
