According to a survey conducted by CouponCodes4u, the iPhone 5 is more highly anticipated than the new iPad mini.

The 1,900 person survey found that 78 percent preferred Apple's next smartphone to their next tablet. The main reason seems to revolve around the issue of the iPad mini's applicability. The normal iPad is great for reading and surfing the web but many are wondering what the new hook will be with Apple's smaller iPad version. It is rumored that the price point for the mini will be more than half that of the $600+ iPad. However, is that really enough to get people to invest more money in an Apple product?

More importantly, the results of the survey serve to support the fact that Apple's iPhone is still its more popular device and has been highly anticipated since the last iPhone 4S was released.

Just a few weeks ago, another survey by 451 Research/ChangeWave stated that there was an unprecedented demand for the iPhone 5 with 14 percent of the surveyed stating that they were "very likely" to purchase the new phone. That number was higher than the two percent that stated that they were "very likely" to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S3 - iPhone 5's greatest competition on the market.

According to recent news, Apple is slated to reveal both the iPhone 5 and iPad mini at an event on September 12. The iPhone 5 is expected to launch just nine days later for over $800.

Sharp Corp. President Takashi Okuda has already announced that the iPhone's display is shipping and a smaller dock and Bluetooth technology has already been announced for the phone.  The Wall Street Journal also confirmed a thinner screen for the iPhone 5.

The CouponCodes4u survey also exemplified that 21 percent of respondents would consider the iPad mini for their children.
