The iPad's price has been reduced at Walmart as rumors strengthen about the upcoming fifth-generation Apple Inc. tablet.

The price of the 16GB iPad with Retina Display, or iPad 4, has been cut to $449, down $50 from its previous price tag. The iPad 4's 16GB with Wi-Fi's price was originally $499.

The new $499 price tag is valid for the both black and white models.

The 32GB iPad 4 also had its price reduced from $599 to $549.

The 64GB model of the iPad 4 encountered the same $50 savings, as the tablet is now priced at $649, down from the original $699.

Finally, the 128GB iPad 4's price went down from $799 to $749.

The $50 discount is also valid for iPad 4 tablets when signing with a carrier, namely AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.

The 16GB iPad 4 with cellular connectivity is priced at $579, down from $629.

The 32GB model is down from $729 to $679.

The iPad 4's 64GB model was reduced to $779 from the previous $829 price tag.

The 128GB iPad 4 model for AT&T is out of stock online, but it had a price of $879.

The iPad mini, however, did not receive a discount at Walmart.

"Retailers often slash prices to clear out inventory ahead of a new product launch," noted CNN Wire.

As Latinos Post reported, the iPad 5 supposedly features the same touch-panel technology seen on the iPad mini, according to The Wall Street Journal's unidentified sources.

In regards to a release date, the Greek website Techmaniacs also reported that the next-generation tablets, the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, might debut on Oct. 25.

The price cut for the iPad 4 at Walmart comes as the retailer also reduced the price of the iPhone 5.

Latinos Post reported on Sept. 2 about Walmart's decision to price the iPhone 5 at $98 for consumers eligible to upgrade or sign a two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint or Verizon. The iPhone 5 offer is not valid for T-Mobile. The deal is also an in-store only offer.
