Cuban-American singer Jencarlos Canela spilled some confessions during the People en Español Festival in an exclusive interview with Isis Suceda, the People en Español director in Los Angeles.

"I am proud to be Latino. I was born and raised in Miami from Cuban parents. (This generation) we have had it a little bit easier, while our parents faced discrimination and racism. We should be proud of what our parents and grandparents did," Canela said at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Canela also revealed that his next single will feature singer Pitbull, as well as KC and the Sunshine Band. According to People, the Cuban singer didn't give further details about the song but assured that it would be "a great song."

The singer also told People, "Music has been my only constant, is what I have done all my life. Now we are standing behind the material that is coming out. We have been working for a year and a half because I didn't want to put filler songs, I wanted a record (that was good) from beginning to end. People do not deserve fillers."

During the interview, Canela said that one of his career's inspiration has been singer Juan Luis Guerra, who he admires for having promoted internationally the bachata genre. "I'm inspired by a lot of people who think outside the box," said the "I Love It" singer. He also explained where his inspiration comes from, saying, "I think I am inspired by life. I believe so much in the power of now, live the moment. Whatever you give to life, you will get more than a hundredfold back. If I don't get to feel what I'm writing or singing, I don't do it."

Canela also took the opportunity to thank his family for their support and his fans for their love. The singer told People he has always remained close with fan clubs in other places like Morocco, India and New Caledonia.

Tv Notas reported that the Cuban-American singer plans to be in Mexico in October for the promotion of his new single. It also reported that he doesn't have the final name of his next album, but it could be called "Jen" as reference to his name.
