With the worldwide release date of "Pokémon X and Y" inching closer and closer, retailers accepting pre-orders are making it clear why the consumer should buy the sixth-generation video games at their store.

Target is providing pin badges of the new legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal. The two legendary Pokémon serve as the mascots for "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y," respectively.

"It's not the neatest of the bunch, especially with those having already grabbed them reporting that they're prone to breaking, though will still surely attract feverish attention," noted Nintendo Insider's Alex Seedhouse.

Target is selling "Pokémon X and Y" for $39.99 each.

The $39.99 price tag is echoed with fellow retailers Best Buy, Kmart, and GameStop.

As Latinos Post reported, GameStop has been offering a pre-order gift as well. The pre-order gift was a reversible map of the Kalos region with Xerneas and Yveltal on the other side.

As Latinos Post reported, according to GameStop's PR Coordinator Kyle Stephenson, every GameStop store is giving out the posters to customers that pre-order either "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" game. The posters, however, are in limited supply and are "while supplies last."

The cheapest retailer that's selling "Pokémon X and Y" is Walmart with an outstanding price of $39.96, a savings of $0.04.

"Pokémon X and Y" is set for a worldwide release on Oct. 12.
