Tony Jaa has joined the upcoming "Fast and Furious 7."

Jaa will make his English language and big studio debut in the film. Jaa recently stated in an e-mail that he was thrilled about the role.

"I have been a big fan of the Fast and Furious franchise. The films are fast-paced, fun and keep the audience involved. There is a great mix of humor and action, something I really appreciate. There is no better film to be involved in for a first U.S. studio production," he wrote.

He also spoke about the privilege of working with Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel on the new film. Jaa wrote, "Having a chance to work with Vin Diesel and The Rock already makes me a winner."

Jaa is best known for his work on "Ong Bak trilogy" as well "The Protector" and "The Bodyguard." The actor was a stuntman that later became an actor following in the footsteps of Jackie Chan and Jet Li.

The last "Fast and Furious" film was released this past summer, grossing $238 million domestically and $786 million worldwide. The movie also scored rave reviews with the critical consensus stating, "With high-octane humor and terrific action scenes, 'Fast & Furious 6' builds upon the winning blockbuster formula that made Fast 5 a critical and commercial success," according to movie review site Rotten Tomatoes.

"Fast and Furious 7" will also star Paul Walker, Ronda Rousey and Jason Statham and will be written by Chris Morgan. The film will be directed by James Wan ("The Conjuring") and will be distributed by Universal on July 11, 2014.
