Breakout country star Luke Bryan currently has the number one album in the U.S. His album "Crash My Party" has earned the spot of bestselling album for the third week in a row, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
According to Nielsen Soundscan, "Crash My Party" is on the top of the Billboard 200 with 528,000 copies sold in the week ending Sunday, Aug. 18. The album's third-largest sales week has only been surpassed in 2013 by the debut of Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience" and Jay Z's "Magna Carta... Holy Grail."
"Crash My Party" follows Bryan's previous bestselling album, "Spring Break...Here to Party," which was number one on the Billboard 200 on March 23.
The album also marks the largest week for an album by a male country artist since 2004. Tim McGraw was the last male country star to sell more copies in one week with "Live Like You Were Dying," with 766,000 copies sold in November 2004.
Bryan is far ahead of the number two album of the week, K. Michelle's "Rebellious Soul," which has sold 72,000 copies. The album is currently at the top of the R&B Album chart. The album marks the highest-selling debut for a female R&B artist since March 2011.
For digital songs sold, Katy Perry's "Roar" still dominates with 557,000 downloads. "Roar's" debut is the sixth-largest sales week ever for a digital song, also marking Perry's best sales week yet and the biggest for Perry's label, Capitol Records.
Even larger weeks for digital downloads was for Flo Rida's "Right Round," with sold 636,000 downloads in one week in 2009, Ke$ha's "TiK ToK," with 610,000 downloads in 2009 and Bruno Mars' "Grenade," with 559,000 downloads in 2010.
"Roar" is the first single off Perry's latest album, "Prism," which will debut on Oct. 22.
Following Perry's "Roar" in number of downloads is Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" (featuring Pharrell and T.I.), which fell to the number two spot with 291,000 downloads. The third most downloaded song is Lady Gaga's "Applause," which sold 218,000 downloads. Although it was Gaga's best week since "The Edge of Glory" debuted with 266,000 downloads, it was a somewhat disappointing week for Gaga, seeing as she is trailing far behind Perry's number of downloads.
"Applause" is the first single off Gaga's upcoming third album, "ARTPOP," which will be released on Nov. 11.
Overall album sales this week totaled 5.1 million units, up eight percent from last week.
