WWE 2K14 has excited gamers with the announcement of much of the game's roster, which reflects the 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode that will take users through many different eras of the sport and recreate several big matches. IGN has an extended preview of the single-player mode, and reveals how the new mode will be one of the biggest and most unique wrestling experiences ever.

Yuke's and 2K Games is building on the success the previous entry in the series experienced with the Attitude Era mode, which recreated several big scenes and matches from one of the WWE's most successful eras. Now, with 30 Years of Wrestlemania, users will be able to enjoy many different highlights spanning the pay per view's three decades. The mode's structure is based on different chapters focused on a particular era in the WWE. For example, there will be a chapter based on the height of Hulk Hogan's popularity, and their will be a chapter based on the rise of modern legends such as Shawn Michaels aka Mr. Wrestlemania.

As for the matches themselves, users will be tasked with two different objectives. Users will have to win the match, but then they have the option to complete Historical Objectives. These special tasks will range from using certain items, focusing on one part of the body, or using quick time events to recreate actual moments from the original matches. These optional quests are the key to unlocking the secrets of the game, and users will have 45 matches to try and recreate over the course of the mode. Players will see a list of Historical Objectives on screen, and players will be able to turn the list on or off as they attempt to complete the tasks given to them. To help build up excitement for the matches, over 45 minutes of footage from these matches has been put together to help users understand the historical importance of each match.

A partial list of matches for the mode has been revealed as well. Some of the highlights include Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock at Wrestlemania 17, Edge vs. Mick Foley at Wrestlemania 22, The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 18, and perhaps the most famous wrestling match of all time, Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania 3.

Overall, the care and quality that developer Yuke's and publisher 2K have shown in the previews of 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode indicate that the game could be one of the best WWE games in years, and could provide a stepping stone to the next-gen WWE titles that will appear in the coming years.
