President Obama was greeted outside of a Phoenix, Ariz. high school Wednesday by racial slurs and taunts when he stopped by to give a speech on the economy.

Hundreds gathered outside the Desert Vista High School, some showing support for the nation's first black president and his policies, others, however, displayed racially-charged signs that read "Impeach the Half-White Muslim!" At one point during the event, the Arizona Republic, reported that demonstrators even began singing "Bye Bye Black Sheep."

While at the school, Obama unveiled his plan to overhaul the nation's mortgage finance system. Although some protesters on the political left urged him to reject the Keystone XL oil pipeline and take more action on climate change, a prevailing theme among the crowd appeared to be issues of race.

"Obama is ruining American values," said one 17-year-old protester. "He is ruining the Constitution. He needs to go back to where he came from because obviously, he is a liar. I am not racist. I am part Indian. Obama's half black, half white."

One former Marine said Obama was "47 percent negro," and that he was "ashamed" that Obama was elected as Commander-in-Chief, reports Mediaite.com

"He's divided all the races. I hate him for that," Judy Burris told the Republic. She had brought her "Mexican" grandson, who said he was happy to be there "so I could protest about impeaching Obama."

Despite racial overtones, Tucson News Now reported that the majority of those in attendance were Obama fans.
