You can feel the cool air settling in. Stagnant threads of humidity still linger, but the scorching sun is slowly getting ready to wind down its day. It's the most magical part of the year. The weather still permits outdoor barbecues and days floating in the lake. The nights cool off with purple and orange dusks, teasing the vibrant colors that the fall foliage will bring. So breathe it in. It doesn't last long. Like anything of beauty, it can pass by in the blink of an eye.

Luckily for "NCIS: LA" fans, the subsequent fall brings with arrival of a new season. While the world is cooling off, things in LA are just heating up. Now as fans look forward to the approaching premiere, new details help shed some light on what they can expect from the forthcoming season.

In a recent interview with TV Guide, executive producer Shane Brennan touches upon last season's cliffhanger that left Deeks and Sam in a state of excruciating pain and agony. Their torture "will have the greatest consequence of any story we've told," Brennan said, hinting that the traumatizing scars will take more time to heal than their physical wounds.

Brennan also informed fans that someone will be leaving the team this season. Whether it's related to Sam and Deeks condition is unclear, but whatever it is, the reason is going to be clear.

Eric Christian Olsen, who plays detective Deeks, also shared that the aftermath of the season 5 finale will have ramifications like nothing ever seen before on the show, claiming that the premiere will be nothing short of "a great episode of television."

"This is the darkest and most honest and the most vulnerable and more heartbreaking episode for Deeks, but also for the other characters. The best scene that has ever been written for [Deeks and Sam] happens in the premiere," he said during an interview with TVLine. "We've already filmed it, and [LL Cool J] is so good. And the most honest scene that Deeks and Kensi have ever had together happens in the premiere."

"NCIS: LA" returns to CBS September 24.
