Jake Peavy seemed all set to be traded following reports that the right-handed pitcher has already packed up his equipment from the Chicago White Sox's clubhouse on Sunday.

Peavy, who pitched for the White Sox for four seasons, released a statement about his seemingly imminent departure from Chicago before the trade deadline.

"It is sad to think that this is probably my last day in here," Peavy said this morning. "We all realize the reality of the situation and I am prepared with that to happen soon. If I am not traded I would be happy to know the message here is we think we can win it all next year with you a part of it," Peavy said in a report by ESPN's Chicago's Bruce Levine.

"I am reflecting on my four years here as we speak and getting a little caught up in the emotion. It is a sad day when you think it could be your last. This is a business and this is what we do. I will always cherish the people here and my time in Chicago," added Peavy, who is drawing interest from the Boston Red Sox, Oakland Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, and Atlanta Braves.

According to Yahoo MLB columnist Jeff Passan, the Red Sox are very much in contention to trade for Peavy because of their ability to send quality prospects to White Sox.

On the other hand, the Oakland Athletics are having a hard time trading for Peavy because of the White Sox's high demand. The Sox reportedly wanted young prospects Sonny Gray and Addison Russell and asked the A's to pay Peavy's remaining salary of $20 million.

Peavy went 8-4 with 4.28 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season for the White Sox.
