The Texas Rangers are still looking to make a big splash before the trade deadline despite already landing pitcher Matt Garza from the Chicago Cubs last week.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Rangers are still in the hunt for another solid player that will help them win the AL West division for the third time in four years.

The Rangers (56-45) are currently second in the AL West race, ahead of the Seattle Mariners (48-53) and just three games behind leader and rival Oakland Athletics (59-42).

Jake Peavy, who will perhaps make his last start for the Chicago White Sox against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday, is the latest pitcher reportedly being eyed by the Rangers.

ESPN's Jayson Stark said the Rangers will be sending two scouts in the match while the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves, and the Cincinnati Reds will each have a scout in attendance.

The 32-year old Peavy went 7-4 with a 4.28 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 13 games for the White Sox.

Meanwhile, Jeff Wilson of the Star-Telegram also indicated the Rangers' interest in trading for San Francisco Giants slugger Hunter Pence and Seattle Mariners designated hitter Kendrys Morales.

Pence is batting .278 with 14 home runs and 51 RBIs for the Giants while Morales is averaging .280 with 15 home runs and 57 RBIs for the Mariners.

Unlike the White Sox, Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors believes it will be hard for San Francisco and Seattle to bite on the trade bait because both teams still have a chance at making it in this year's postseason.
