Fox's hit crime solving drama "Bones" has added a new actor to its roster of guest stars this upcoming season. On Wednesday, TVLine reported that Freddie Prinze Jr. would join the cast "in a potential multi-episode arc."

According to TVLine, Prinze will portray Danny, "a very covert CIA agent," who is an old colleague of Booth's (David Boreanaz). Danny will be introduced in the September 16 season opener, where he'll show interest in Booth's and Brennan's murder investigation.

Danny isn't the only character set to come back from Booth's past. As previously reported, Booth will be revisited by his ex-confessor. Series creator and executive producer Hart Hanson told TVLine that the new character's name is Aldo Coulter. TVLine reported that actor Mather Zickel has been cast in the role.

"We left Booth with a terrible secret that he can't tell anyone, which is that Pelant is not letting him marry Brennan," Hanson said. "And that, in effect, is a lie for a Catholic like Booth every time he's talking to Brennan. So he finds himself seeking out his old spiritual advisor, who now runs a bar, to talk things out."

In other "Bones" news, all anyone can talk about is the much anticipated wedding between Booth and Brennan, which was confirmed by Hanson during Comic-Con. According to TV Guide, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) will be "noticeably devastated" that Booth called off their engagement. "Booth is not someone who sits well with unhappiness," Hanson told TV Guide. "He wants to fix things and that's what he's trying to do. His desire [is] to kill Pelant."

He added, "He's not usually like that; he's not a killer. But...Caroline and Sweets are very concerned."

The show's executive producers told TVLine the wedding "is not a trick" or "a dream" and is definitely happening this upcoming season. Hanson added that the wedding would not be traditional-not that Brennan would allow for that.

As for whether the show is doing its last season, Hanson told TVLine that they were prepared for that eventuality "but hope that it will not." According to Hanson, they should know by December whether the show is "doomed or not."

"Bones" season 9 premieres on Monday, September 16 at 8 p.m. on Fox. On November 8, the show moves to its new Friday night time slot.
