Amanda Bynes' pint-sized Pomeranian almost ended up as a casualty in the makeshift fire that the actress allegedly started on Monday night.

Video footage shows that the 27-year-old star walked into a California liquor store shortly after she supposedly lit a small fire in a driveway at a home not far from her parent's house in Southern California. According to reports, Bynes reeked of gasoline as she tried to rinse her pet pooch in a back-office sink.

"She was trying to wash the dog. She didn't ask permission to go in the back on her own," Southwest Market & Deli employee Tony Darghali told the New York Daily News.

"When [the clerk on duty] went back there to see what she was doing, he could smell gasoline. She seemed freaked out and just kind of walked out. I don't think there was a whole lot of communication," he added. "It looks like the poor girl needs some help."

Surveillance video published by TMZ shows the former child star wearing a long blond wig as she paces around the store with the tiny dog in her arms and walks into an employees-only bathroom.

A witness reported pulling his vehicle over to help with the fire and encountering Bynes at the scene before firefighters arrived.

Andrew Liverpool told E! News that Bynes' pants were on fire when he offered assistance at the bizarre scene in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

He said she was lying down in the driveway, rolling around to put out the fire on the leg of her loose black pants. When the fire was out, she rushed over to her dog, he said. She was "kind of frantic and discombobulated," he recalled.

He said moments after he moved the gas can to the middle of the driveway for safety, he looked up and noticed the "Hairspray" actress had vanished.

Later that night, Bynes was detained and taken for a mental health evaluation at a Los Angeles-area hospital

Unidentified sources told TMZ that Bynes is exhibiting signs of schizophrenia. Another inside source said the starlet "seem[ed] to be doing well," during her hospital stay, adding that a treatment plan was being discussed, according to Fox News. "The thing with Amanda is that it isn't as bizarre as it seems. She knows when to pull it together and act normal," they said.
