Just days after casting news regarding two new characters in the upcoming season of "The Good Wife" was released, fans are getting even more casting updates. TVLine is reporting that "Outsourced" alum Ben Rappaport has been tapped to play Carey in the drama's fifth season.
Rappaport, whose character is one of the fourth-year attorneys at Lockhart-Gardner who's jumping ship with Alicia (Julianna Marguilies) and Cary (Matt Czuchry), will be joining fellow newbie's Melissa George (Marilyn) and Juliet Rylance (Holly).
As previously reported Marilyn will be newly-elected Governor Florrick's (Chris Noth) in-house ethics counsel, while Holly will be "a whip-smart Assistant State's Attorney who shares a past with Kalinda (Archie Panjabi). Marilyn will be charged with making sure Florrick "plays by the rules." Meanwhile, Holly is sure to stir things up between Kalinda and Cary.
In a previous interview with TVLine, executive producer Robert King also expressed his desire to get actor Matthew Perry ("Go On") to reprise his role as Mike Kresteva. King told TVLine that he intends to do "whatever we can to get him." Perry's NBC comedy "Go On" was cancelled after just one season.
While Rappaport, George and Rylance join the cast as recurring characters, actor Zach Grenier (David Lee) was promoted to series regular, TVLine also reported. News of Grenier's promotion was broken on CBS Television Studios' Twitter account on June 20. David Lee is described as "the cunning, power-hungry head of Lockhart-Gardner's law practice, a man's who's been known to relish intrigue and infighting when it comes to office politics."
"The Good Wife" returns for season five on Sunday, September 29 at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
