The Oct. 17 premiere, however, is only for Japanese viewers.

Fans across the U.S. are usually four to six months behind the Japanese anime. Currently, the "Black and White" saga of the anime have 93 days between the original Japanese airings to the U.S. premiere on Cartoon Network. For example, the July 6 Pokémon episode "Ash and N: A Clash of Ideals!" originally premiered in Japan on April 4. Therefore, if the time span remains, then U.S. fans could anticipate the "X and Y" season by early February.

U.S. viewers, however, don't have to wait untill February for a peak of the new generation's Pokémon. The Japanese edition of the series will slowly rollout a few of the recently confirmed "X and Y" Pokémon starting this month, therefore, late October for U.S. viewers.

As for the protagonist for the "Pokémon X and Y" season, it will remain with Ash Ketchum. In regards to his traveling companions, no statement has been said if the new season will feature new characters for Ash or the return of current or past friends.

"Pokémon X and Y" will be released on Oct. 12 across Australia, Europe, Japan and North America for the Nintendo 3DS.
