Dreams are about to become a reality for some of these youngbloods as NBA teams will take turns to select a player they hope could turn into a future perennial All-Star or even the next face of the franchise during the 2013 NBA Draft at 7 p.m. EST on Thursday, June 27 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

At last after years of intense training and grueling battles in the collegiate ranks, the NBA dream for these draft hopefuls is now within reach. But the draft is not only a passage way for these youngsters to the professional game, it also serves as a platform for NBA ball clubs to add a missing piece in their championship puzzle.

Yet, the draft is also a gamble. Based on the history of the NBA Draft, it's always a high-risk, high-reward process. Some prospects could live up to their hype such as former no.1 pick LeBron James, Dwight Howard and Blake Griffin while others could end up as bust like Greg Oden, Michael Olowakandi and Kwame Brown.

Meanwhile, the draft is also a gold mine of untapped talents especially for teams with late first-round or second round selections. Time and time again, the draft produced solid players who were taken in the second round. Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Marc Gasol was taken 48th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2007 while three-time NBA champion Manu Ginobili was drafted 57th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in 1999.

The 2013 Draft features a wide variety of talents from a shot-blocking artist like Nerlens Noel to a high-scoring shooting guard like Ben McLemore. It also has international flavors like Ukrainian Alex Len, Canadian Kelly Olynyk, and Frenchman Rudy Gobert while Michigan's Trey Burke, Indiana's Victor Oladipo, and Georgetown's Otto Porter represents the great American flag. All of them are coming from different walks of life, but with one goal - to make it in the NBA.

So here it goes. The draft is all set to start. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
