Alejandro Fernandez announced that his much awaited new album is called "Confidencias" and it will be released on August 27. The Mexican star broke the news on Twitter Tuesday night, while his record label Universal Music Latino made ​​the formal announcement on Wednsday afternoon.

"Soon you will hear #Confidencias #August27 Get ready!" the "Potrillo" tweeted, much to the delight of his fan base.

The first single, "Hoy tengo ganas de ti" which is a duet with Christina Aguilera, has been playing for several weeks on the radio in Mexico and the United States, and other countries in Latin America to great success. According to Universal Music Latino, the song dominated the iTunes listings, reaching the No. 1 position in Spain and Latin America in its first week of release.

The song is also the main theme for the Televisa telenovela "La Tempestad," which stars Cuban actor William Levy and former Miss Universe Ximena Navarrete.

Fernandez has won two Grammy awards and two Billboard awars in his career and has sold over 20 million records. The singer caused controversy in recent weeks due to an alleged plastic surgery on his face. "Alejandro Fernandez did not have any surgical interventions whatsoever. He is simply getting ready to launch a new production, so he's cut his hair, he's exercised, he's on a diet and he's lost a lot of weight, that's why he looks great" his manager told a Mexican gossip magazine.
