Displays rumored to be for the iPhone 5S has been posted on a Chinese microblogging website.

Sina Weibo featured pictures alleging to be the display of the next Apple smartphone. The photo also appears to have been taken at the production line for the device.

"The photo is relatively small, but the resolution is good enough that the redesigned flex cable connectors on the iPhone 5S part can be seen," noted Eric Slivka of MacRumors. "On the iPhone 5, the two connectors supporting the display itself and the touch digitizer are both oriented horizontally, while on the iPhone 5S one is oriented vertically and the other horizontally.

If the image is true, one can assume that mass production of the displays are underway.

The leak comes after Citigroup's Glen Yeung stated earlier this month that the iPhone 5S would likely be delayed due to production problems.

"With respect to the iPhone 5S, our checks suggest production has been delayed by 2-4 weeks, likely due to display issues," said the Citigroup analyst in a note to investors. "And while this does not preclude a September iPhone 5S launch date, we suspect volumes in September may consequently be challenged."
