Best Buy has issued a recall for batteries in the MacBook Pro developed by third parties.

The recall was made after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported 13 cases of the batteries catching fire, leading to one serious injury.

The MacBook Pro batteries in question are both the black and white variants of the ATG lithium-ion battery sold between September 2008 and June 2012. The black battery at risk should have the model number "MC-MBOOK13B" while the white version will have "MC-BOOK13W."

Best Buy is offering either a replacement battery or gift card as compensation of the recall.

According to the Associated Press, Best Buy spokesman Jeff Shelman noted the retailer is only one of many that sold the recalled batteries.

Best Buy has issued a statement, via Gizmodo, stating, "After receiving reports from customers of these lithium ion batteries overheating when charging, we believe the right thing to do is to contact our customers and ask them to return the product for replacement or for a Best Buy gift card. While we are only one of many companies that may have sold these batteries, we feel they are a potential fire and burn hazard and want to keep our customers safe."
