It's summer. AMC's "Walking Dead" is in its offseason, but that doesn't stop the zombie craze that consumes fans and keeps them yearning for more brain chomping action. Walkers never sleep, so why should their fans? Luckily, there's plenty of flesh eating news trickling down from season 4 production to keep them satisfied.
At the end of season 3, fans expected to see one of the show's most malicious villains, The Governor (David Morrissey), to be offed in typical "Walking Dead" fashion. He deserved to be munched on by trolling zombies. It would have been a satisfactory way to end the season, but of course, in typical "Walking Dead" fashion, the show took an unexpected turn and had The Governor prevail, killing one of the show's most beloved heroes. As upset and shocked as fans were, the writers had planned the tragic turn of events all along.
"The question will be answered [in] season 4," said comic book writer and executive producer Robert Kirkman to Horror-Movies. "We always had a plan for this guy. We always knew that it was a bigger story than would fit into one season. There's still a lot more to be done with this guy. We've known from the very first minute of season 3 that we would be keeping The Governor around for awhile."
So, much to fans' dismay, it looks like there will be plenty more of The Governor in subsequent seasons. Every great series needs a villain. Zombies can't be the only threat to humanity in "The Walking Dead."
"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC on Sunday, October 13 at 9 ET/PT.
