With the departure of Jose Mourinho, a great deal of attention has turned to the vacant spot he has left. Many have wondered who would be the next man to lead Real Madrid. Recent reports indicate that Bayern Munich's outgoing manager Jupp Heynckes could be that man.

According to ESPN, the manager has expressed interest in making a return to the Santiago Bernabeu where he previously managed from 1997-98.

"Jupp would be happy and willing to return to Real Madrid," Heynckes' manager Enrique Reyes told Spain's Radio Nacional. "If [Real Madrid President Florentino Perez] calls us, we would probably accept the offer. At the moment he's only retiring from the Bundesliga, although right now he's only thinking about the German cup final."

Heynckes achieved much success in his year with Real Madrid. He led the team to a Spanish Super Cup victory and also helped the squad capture its seventh Champions league victory.

Heynckes is coming off a monumental year with Bayern Munich. He led the Bavarian side to the top spot in the German Bundesliga and also helped the side to its first Champions league triumph since 2001.

Aside from Heynckes, current Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti has been rumored as a major candidate for the position. Ancelotti recently revealed that he asked to be relieved of his final contract year in Paris so that he can move to Madrid.

"We had a meeting and I asked to leave the club," Ancelotti said. "We now have to wait a few days for the club's response to decide my future and that of the club.

"I have options and Real Madrid is one of those. I will wait for the club's decision. We will decide together because my wish is to leave the club. It's not easy because I have a very good relationship with everyone. It's not the right time to explain my reasons -- and maybe I will never explain."
