"The Avengers 2" will not come out in theaters until 2015, but director Joss Whedon is already fielding questions on his upcoming project.

The writer-director recently revealed that he plans to include the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in the upcoming film.

"I found their powers to be very visually interesting," Whedon told Jimmy Fallon on Friday. "In the last film a lot of the characters had very 'punchy powers' where they were always punching something and that got kind of boring after awhile."

Fallon immediately suggested casting Selena Gomez and Channing Tatum in those two roles.

The character of Quicksilver is also slated to make an appearance in the upcoming "X-men: Days of Future Past;" Evan Peters has been cast in the Bryan Singer film. IGN notes, "Quicksilver is the first character that both Marvel and Fox [will use] simultaneously in their respective movies, which are also set in separate cinematic universes. In the comics, Quicksilver, aka Pietro Maximoff, is the son of Magneto and a mutant, two elements Marvel/Disney can't use in Avengers 2 since those are part of Fox's overall X-Men rights deal."

Whedon recently announced that production on "Avengers 2" will start in early 2014.

"We should start shooting I think in February," he revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I didn't think I was gonna do the second one, but I had an idea for it before I had figured out the first one."

"You go into a movie not assuming that there's going to be [a sequel]. I did sort of know, well... if they were to come back, I know what's going to happen and it's going to be awful!" he added.

Whedon also made cryptic comments about the villain Thanos.

"He is so powerful he is not someone you can just try out and punch him. Like he did in the comics, you want him to thread through the universe and save the big finale for 'the big finally'. He is definitely a part of what I have got going on," said Whedon. "The thing about the Avengers is that they are very powerful but not very stable. So, there will definitely be some people that will shake them up in the next installment."

Many speculate that Thanos may not be defeated until the third Avengers movie and that other villains will come to the fore in "Avengers 2."
