Despite his wealth, fame and fortunate, Brad Pitt may suffer from a condition known as "face blindness."

In a recent interview with Esquire, the 49-year-old Hollywood star hinted that he may suffer from prosopagnosia, or face blindness, a disorder that impairs a person's ability to recognize faces, even familiar or renowned faces.

Although he has not been tested or diagnosed with the disorder, his inability to distinguish someone's face has affected his relationship with people.

"So many people hate me because they think I'm disrespecting them," Pitt told the magazine. "I took one year where I just said, This year, I'm just going to cop to it and say to people, 'OK, where did we meet?' But it just got worse. People were more offended. ...You get this thing, like, 'You're being egotistical. You're being conceited.' But it's a mystery to me, man. I can't grasp a face, and yet I come from such a design/aesthetic point of view. I am going to get it tested."

Carnegie Mellon University invited Pitt Thursday to have his brain imaged and be examined by a neuroscientist and psychology professor Marlene Behrmann, reports CNN.

"Carnegie Mellon is one of the very few places that can both test for face blindness and perform the brain imaging in our state-of-the-art imaging center," Behrmann said in a press release.

He also told the magazine that, like his finance Angelina Jolie, he keeps a tight circle.

"I have very few friends. I have a handful of close friends and I have my family and I haven't known life to be any happier," he shares. "I'm making things. I just haven't known life to be any happier."

The June/July issue of Esquire hits newsstands May 31.
