The next version of Android was a no-show at the tech giant's recent Google I/O, leading tech speculation to run high as to what exactly Google is cooking up. While many initially expected Google to roll out an overhauled Android 5.0, it's looking more and more like Android 4.3 will be the next version.
One intrepid XDA user managed to snap some shots of a Google Nexus 4 with Android 4.3 at the Thailand Mobile Expo. While Latinos Post has not independently verified the validity of the pictures shown above, one can see that the alleged Nexus 4 is running Android version 4.3. The Baseband version is hard to make out, but the kernel has a date stamp of May 14 and the build seems to be JWR45B.
Android 4.3 is reported to continue the Jelly Bean lineup, and won't be a redesign that Android 5.0 (nicknamed "Key Lime Pie" at the moment) is supposed to be. Not much is known about the features involved, although it is reported to support some Google Glass features.
On the Nexus smartphone rumor side of things, Google is apparently gearing up to relaunch new variants of the already-released LG Nexus 4. What exactly the next Nexus 4 could be is still up in the air, and rumored versions include a white Nexus 4 and an LTE Nexus 4 that would also work on CDMA networks like Verizon and Sprint.
Bear in mind none of this has been confirmed by Google, so be sure to take the reports with a dose of skepticism. Still, what do you think? Does Android 4.3 and a new Nexus 4 variant have you interested? Or would you rather have Google launch Android 5.0 and a Nexus 5?
