The development of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for the Samsung Galaxy S3 is still underway, but specifications for the update has leaked.
Latinos Post reported on a potential release date for the Android 4.2.2 for the Galaxy S3 after a tweet read an update could come in either May or June. According to a SamMobile insider, the update is now expected to roll out in June and could see similar features seen in the Galaxy S4 such as the Settings User-Interface, additional voice controls, S-Voice, lockscreen with Ripple and Light effects, and new screen modes. The settings are revamped into tabs, similar to Galaxy S4.
The Android 4.2.2 update will reportedly have enhancements to notifications, gallery modes, driving mode, and daydream.
The firmware update, branded as I9300XXUFME3, is available for download. Instructions for the download include unzipping the file, opening Odin 3.04, and restarting the phone in download mode. Next, the Galaxy S3 owner should connect the smartphone and await the blue sign in Odin. In the PDA, the user should add "I9300XXUFME3_I9300OJKFME1_HOME.tar.md5."
The Galaxy S3, released in May 2012 originally with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich version 4.0.4, features a 4.8-inch screen with 1,280x720 pixels. Available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB internal storage models, the Galaxy S3 has 1GB of RAM with up to 64GB of additional memory after inserting the appropriate microSD card. Camera specifications include 8 megapixels for the rear-facing camera with 3,264x2,448 pixels. The front-facing camera has 1.9 megapixels. The Galaxy S3 comes with a 2,100mAh battery capacity for up to 790 hours of standby time and 11 hours and 40 minutes of talk time when under a 3G network.
