Apple has not confirmed the next mobile operating system platform, but the Cupertino-based company is setting up their annual Worldwide Developers Conference where the iOS 7 could finally make its debut - or at least a preview.
Interest for iOS 7 appears to be increasing as Onswipe reported a spike in traffic in regards to the next mobile platform.
It appears the iOS 7 distribution has started, internally with Apple developers. According to Onswipe, the cities of San Francisco and Cupertino saw a significant increase of iOS 7 usage, notably from the former with 18.75 percent and the latter receiving 17.9 percent.
On May 2, data from iOS 7 reached a peak at 23 percent among Onswipe-enabled sites.
Of devices testing iOS 7, the iPhone is utilizing the mobile platform the most at 75 percent, while the iPads were next in line with 25 percent of the visits.
iOS 7 may debut at the WWDC, set between June 10 and 14 from San Francisco. The conference, according to Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller, is an "incredible community" for iOS and OS X developers.
Tickets to attend the WWDC are sold out but were each worth $1,599 at the time of sale.
"Our developers have had the most prolific and profitable year ever, and we're excited to show them the latest advances in software technologies and developer tools to help them create innovative new apps," added Schiller. "We can't wait to get new versions of iOS and OS X into their hands at WWDC."
