Despite helping to rescue Amanda Berry and two other women from kidnappers in Cleveland, Charles Ramsey does not consider himself a hero, nor does he feel as if he deserves reward money for his heroic action. Instead, the unassuming man says he is humbled by the fact that he could help free Berry, who was last seen in 2003 on the eve of her 17th birthday before she was kidnapped. The other women, Georgina "Gina" DeJesus, who disappeared at age 14 in 2004, and Michelle Knight, who vanished 2002 at age 19, were allegedly held in bondage by Ariel Castro, 52, until Ramsey helped them escape on Monday.

In an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper, the theatrical storyteller relayed the series of events that lead to the women being freed after almost a decade in bondage. While his colorful word choice and phenomenal narrating skills overshadow the serious nature of the circumstances, Ramsey makes one point very clear: he is a regular guy who followed his natural instincts.

"No, no, no. Bro, I'm a Christian, an American, and just like you," Ramsey told Cooper when asked if he felt like a hero.

"We bleed same blood, put our pants on the same way. It's just that you got to put that - being a coward, and I don't want to get in nobody's business. You got to put that away for a minute," he continued.

He went on to say that he thinks the reward money should be given to the victims.

"I tell you what you do, give [the reward] to them. Because if folks been following this case since last night, you been following me since last night, you know I got a job anyway. Just went picked it up, paycheck. What that address say? [...] 2203 Seymour. Where are them girls living? Right next door to this paycheck. So yes, take that reward and give it to-that little girl."
