After spending a few episodes training Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) for her new job as a detective, Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) will finally resume his hunt for Moriarty during Thursday’s episode, entitled “A Landmark Story.” The hit CBS crime-solving drama is nearing the end of its first season and gearing up for an already confirmed second season.

In the upcoming episode, Sherlock will once again begin his search for the elusive Moriarty, who first started killing people in London and later followed Sherlock across the pond to the U.S. CBS teases, “Sherlock resumes his hunt for Moriarty when Sebastian Moran (guest star Vinnie Jones) reveals that a man who was thought to be dead from a heart attack, was actually on the list of intended victims from Moriarty.”

Fans may remember Moran as “M,” the killer Sherlock was tracking down in London before moving to New York City. M first appeared back in January, when he too made his way to the Big Apple. After being captured, and almost tortured by Sherlock, M revealed that he was actually a hired assassin and that he was under strict orders from Moriarty. Moran also revealed that he did not kill Sherlock’s past love Irene Adler. Annoyed that Moriarty would sell him out to Sherlock, Moran tells Sherlock that he’ll help him find Moriarty.

In a sneak peak, fans can see Sherlock talking to Moran in jail as well as him interrogating a man bound by a straight-jacket. The episode is definitely not one to miss.

While the finale is just a couple weeks away, we can also reveal that ‘Games of Throne’ actress Natalie Dormer has been confirmed to play the role of Irene Adler. According to TVLine, Dormer will appear on a three episode arc beginning May 9 and ending during the show’s two-hour season finale on May 16.

Executive producer and creator Rob Doherty added, “We’re moving to the next chapter in our show—and in some ways, to a previous chapter in Holmes’ story. Irene Adler is perhaps the most pivotal relationship in Sherlock’s life, and I can’t think of an actress better suited to the challenge than Natalie.”

'Elementary' S1E21, "A Landmark Story," airs on Thursday at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
