Intel is set to launch a new series of Notebooks, and it's looking to step away from Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system.
Intel CEO Paul Otellini first commented on the upcoming notebooks and how it will cost as low as $200.
According to Intel Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer Dadi Perlmutter, confirming to CNET, the notebooks will be Android-based and run on the company's Atom mobile processor.
Intel did note that cheaper Windows 8 touchscreen devices are a possibility in the future, but it will depend if Microsoft agrees to go along with it.
"We have a good technology that enables a very cost-effective price point," said Perlmutter, adding that the decision to price the future Windows 8 devices are on Microsoft's hands.
"It may be a slightly higher price point," admitted the executive vice president and chief product officer if Microsoft does agree with their plans.
As for a possible release date, the notebooks may come in the "coming months."
