As the night of the 4th of July approaches, so does the time to see the always-impressive annual fireworks.

Various fireworks shows will occur across the nation; among all, one will outstand as the brightest, literally.

New York City - Macy's "Ignite the Night"

Macy's in New York will be throwing what it is already being considered the largest 2012 fireworks show in the nation. The 36th Annual Macy's Fireworks display is being called "Ignite the Night", and the show will feature performances from both Katy Perry and Kenney Chesney.

According to Forbes, Julie Heckman of the American Pyrotechnics Association said, "Macy's is the grandaddy of them all," 

Time: 9:00 p.m.
TV Broadcast: NBC 9:00 - 11:00 p.m. EST. (Hosted by Regis Philbin)
Location: Fireworks will shoot up from four barges or cargo rafts in the middle of the Hudson River. These rafts will be located between 18th Street and 43rd Street. (See map below)
Best Places and Sites to See:  Along the West Side Highway on the lane closest to the River, between 14th and 59th Streets. Pier 84 (access from 44th Street). On the other side of the Hudson River in New Jersey's Jersey City. Exchange Place is recommended, Hoboken as well.
