Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, presidential candidate of the Democratic Revolution Party in Mexico has assured that out of the 143,000 polling stations this past Sunday, 113,855 presented irregularities.
Lopez Obrador held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon publicly informing that he had requested Mexico's Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) to tally up election day votes, "one by one, station by station."
"We are not asking for a favor, we are requesting for what is written as law to be done," said the leftist candidate who lost to Enrique Peña Nieto of the PRI party according to preliminary votes.
Obrador denied that his decision to proceed in such a manner was of extravagant nature since he mentioned basing himself on various inconsistencies found throughout 113,855 polling stations.
"We will make use of the rights we have and are acting in a responsible manner in conformity with what is legal," Obrador reminded the public.
Obrador also denounced Enrique Peña Nieto and his PRI campaign for buying millions of votes and spending more money than what the law permits in election campaigns.
IFE on the other hand responded to Obrador's claim by announcing that on Wednesday there would be an extraordinary commission in order to decide upon the issued request.
IFE's is also expected to release the official election results on Wednesday.
