It's official. Ann Curry is out, and Savannah Guthrie is in.
Friday morning's show of the "Today" show from NBC captured a bizarre feeling of replacement since Guthrie began the morning show in Curry's old seat.
Curry had announced her departure Thursday, and Friday morning's show had the New York Times initially reporting that Guthrie would be her replacement.

Matt Lauer made no comment on the negotiations to make her co-anchor, and NBC did not offer an official statement but only hours after the show.
Why Is Ann Curry Leaving the 'Today' Show?
Curry's exit of the show is representative of NBC's attempt to fend-off the rating slumps the 'Today' show has suffered this year.
During the first half of 2012, ABC's 'Good Morning America' surpassed the 'Today' show in four occasions after not losing a single week since 1996 according to the Christian Science Monitor.
According to the New York Times, "Today" show executive Jim Bell favored Guthrie as Curry's replacement. Curry on the other hand, would now move on to become NBC's anchor-at-large and a national/international correspondent.
Guthrie has previously hosted the 9 a.m. version of the "Today" show for the last year and is also NBC's chief legal correspondent.
The Friday morning show had Guthrie and Lauer discussing topics such as the Colorado wildfires and the Supreme court ruling on the Obama healthcare plan.
On Thursday Curry said, "This is not easy to say, but today is going to be my last morning as a regular co-host of 'Today.' I will still be a part of the 'Today' show family, but I'll have a new title and a new role, and this is not how I expected to ever leave this couch after 15 years. But I am so grateful, especially to all of you who watch."
It seemed that even though Curry had hosted the "Today" show for 15 years, she had problems dealing with the less formal duties of co-hosting a morning show.
She apologized, "For all of you who saw me as groundbreaker, I'm sorry I couldn't carry the ball over the finish line. Man, I did try and so to all of you who watched, thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me touch yours."
Guthrie's official debut at the show is set for Monday, July 9.
