God of War: Ascension is the latest game in the bloody and brutal franchise, and the first to include a multiplayer element to the series. While critics have had generally positive, if lukewarm things to say about the game, the game's multiplayer has been frequently cited as one of the weaker parts of the game. Sony Santa Monica aims to change that in a new patch for the game's multiplayer, in an announcement made to Gamespot.

"For our Champions who have ascended to the highest levels, and for those on their way, now you have a new goal to reach. It will not be an easy journey..." Sony said

The new 1.04 update will increase the level cap of the game from 30 to 40, and give new items, abilities, and relics to players from all the different levels. The game will also revamp the way players access their stats. With Champion stats, players will be able to access critical information, such as win/loss percentage and their kill-to-death ratio from the main menu after the update is rolled out.

The patch will also address numerous bug problems that have been reported by players. Examples include a bug which causes the audio to drop from the game, and a bug that prevents players from grabbing certain items, such as the Spear of Destiny. These fixes, along with the changes to the level cap and how players view stats should help bring up Ascension's multiplayer reputation.

Players not satisfied with the content of the patch who wish for a more substantial update are in luck, as Sony Santa Monica also hinted that new content is on the way as well, although when this new content would arrive is not yet known. We shall see if the changes to the multiplayer boost the game to a new level of popularity, or if it goes largely unnoticed by players.
