America's fourth largest mobile carrier is officially accepting pre-orders of Apple's fifth-generation smartphone ahead of its April 12 release date.

T-Mobile is allowing customers to pre-order the iPhone 5 for a down payment of $99.99 and subsequently make payments of $20 for the next 24 months.

The iPhone 5's release with T-Mobile comes as the carrier its renovating itself, abolishing contracts and engaging 4G LTE for up to 100 million people in the U.S.

The carrier did put a message next to the cost of the fifth-generation Apple smartphone.

"At T-Mobile, your phone and plan costs are separate and you always pay less for the latest smartphones at activation. And, even with the separate monthly charge for your phone on a monthly payment plan, your monthly bill and long-term costs can still be less than comparable plans offered by the competition," T-Mobile said.

After adding the $99.99 iPhone 5 to the shopping cart, the consumer has to choose a data plan. T-Mobile recommends customers the Unlimited Nationwide 4G plan for $70 per month. The other two data plan options are 500MB Included and 2GB. All three data plans include unlimited talk, text, and web.

The 32GB model of the iPhone is priced at $199.99 while the 64GB variant will cost $299.99 when staying with the carrier for two years.

A "pay up front" is available for customers wanting to buy the phone outright. The price tag increases to $579.99.

The addition of the iPhone 5 on T-Mobile was confirmed back on March 26 during an event in New York City.

"This is an important day for people who love their iPhone but can't stand the pain other carriers put them through to own one," said T-Mobile USA President and CEO John Legere. "We feel their pain. I've felt the pain. So we're rewriting the rules of wireless to provide a radically simple, affordable iPhone 5 experience - on an extremely powerful network."

T-Mobile also confirmed its 4G LTE expansion and the five devices helping them make the transition. The BlackBerry Z10, HTC One, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and the upcoming Galaxy S4 will be among the carrier's first 4G LTE smartphones. T-Mobile also has the "T-Mobile Sonic 2.0 Mobile Hotspot LTE" on deck, providing on-the-go Internet access for $29.99.
