Sam Witwer is the latest in a line of actors who has stated interest in the new Star Wars Episode VII film.

The actor who voiced the character of Darth Maul told the digital spy "I would jump at the opportunity to simply audition [for Episode 7]." He added "Star Wars is something that I've been a fan of since I was a kid - I played all the video games and I grew up reading Star Wars books. Working on the franchise and getting direction from George Lucas - it's something that I never thought would take place."

The actor also voiced his excitement about the producing team and director J.J Abrams. He stated, "They have a great creative team - George is basically resuming the role that he had back in the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi days - the guy behind the story. And then they've got JJ as the director - they have a lot of smart people working on this."

Recently Ian McDiarmid acknowledged that he would like to reprise the role of Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars spinoffs. Diane Kruger, Kerri Russell, and Dwayne Johnson also expressed interest of being in the series.

However to the date, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill are slated to reprise their roles from the original trilogy. The news was announced when George Lucas told Bloomberg business that production was in negotiations with the actors.

Witwer is currently starring in "Being Human" and has been seen in "Gamer," "Pathology" and "The Mist."

"Star Wars Episode 7" will come out in 2015 and will be released by Disney.
