The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences have announced that the 2014 ceremony will be held on March 2, 2014.

The change of date was made so that the revered ceremony did not interfere with the Winter Olympics' closing ceremony next year.

The late date will also reflect the Academy's voting and nominations date. The nominations for the Oscars will be announced on Feb. 10th. That will be a whole month later than this year when the shortlist was revealed on Jan.10. The Academy moved the nominations up this past year as a means of stirring up the race and being less predictable. However next year the organization will return to status quo after various members complained there was not enough time to view all the films.

Along with the 2014 date, the Academy also announced that the 2015 ceremony honoring 2014 films would be on Feb. 22.

The prodcuers for the March ceremony have not been announced yet. However recent rumors reveal that Justin Timberlake is the number one choice to host the ceremony. Additionally, many films have already emerged as early Oscar contenders. The Weinstein Company has set dates for their contenders including "Grace of Monaco," August: Osage County," and "Fruitvale." Other potential contenders include "The Monuments Men," "Gravity," "Mud," and "The Place Beyond the Pines." Two other films that have emerged as top contenders are the Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper starrers "Serena" by Susanne Bier and the Untitled Abscam drama by David O. Russell.

Additionally various actors have started to garner buzz including Meryl Streep (August:Osage County), Naomi Watts (Diana), Ryan Gosling and Cooper (The Place Beyond the Pines), Michael Fassbender (The Counselor, Twelve Years a Slave), Bendeict Cumberbatch (The Fifth Estate), and Leonardo Dicaprio (Wolf of Wall Street).

The Oscars is the film industry's most prestigious awards ceremony and recent winners inclde "Argo," "The Artist, "The King's Speech," "The Hurt Locker," Slumdog Millionaire," and "No Country for Old Men."
