Blizzard has been hinting at unveiling a brand new game at the PAX East Conference happening right now through the weekend in Boston, and now it appears they have done so. It had been assumed that gamers would finally be able to catch a glimpse at Blizzard All-Stars, the DOTA-inspired MOBA game that has yet to be revealed to the public. Instead, Blizzard has shocked many by revealing a brand-new game, entitled Hearthstone Heroes of WarCraft.

Eurogamer has revealed that Blizzard has announced the game during their presentation, and that the game shall be a free-to-play card battle strategy game set in the Warcraft universe. Players will be able to select classes from World of Warcraft, then collect cards to battle others. There will be a card crafting mechanic as well, where you take unwanted cards and break them down to create a more desirable card. Players will also be able to buy packs of cards for the game for about a dollar, if they so choose.

This shall be Blizzards first free-to-play game, and it is being developed by Team Five. Team Five is a new section of Blizzard made up of 15 developers who wanted to stretch past the expectations that come with making a Blizzard game and make smaller, more experimental games for the company.

While this may disappoint gamers who were looking forward to potentially seeing Blizzard All-Stars revealed to the public, this new game sounds interesting enough. While details are few at this point, Blizzard has an impeccable record for creating new and exciting games, no matter what genre they dabble in. Blizzard will also be showing a hands-on demo for the PlayStation 3 version of Diablo 3 at PAX East, which runs until Sunday.
