Pokémon X and Y Pokédex: Pre-Evolutions of Pinsir, Heracross Debunked as Rumors Grow; 10 Years Since 'Ruby & Sapphire' in America

Fake Pokémon are appearing left and right ahead of the October release date of "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y."

It has been two months since Nintendo President Satoru Iwata confirmed the sixth-generation games and all that is known - pocket monsters-wise - are only six new Pokémon.

With fans anticipating new updates, rumors are definitely making their rounds. An example is the story of pre-evolutions for first generation Pokémon Pinsir and second generation Pokémon Heracross.

Back in early March, the Pokédex of the sixth generation game "leaked" and noted "Bugler" and "Chryscross" as Pinsir and Heracross' baby evolution, respectively. The alleged Pokédex has been proven false but not in time before an animation of the two pre-evolutions appeared online.

An image shows Eevee, Sylveon, Heracross, Pinsir, and two baby Pokémon, supposedly taken from a television screen. The baby Pokémon does bare similarities to Pinsir and Heracross but yet again, it has been debunked.

It won't be the first time two fake Pokémon attempted to fool fans. In early February, two "Pokémon" were making the Internet rounds alleging to be from a Japanese magazine. The Pokémon in question have since been confirmed as fake, despite the animation looking like a standard Pokémon drawing. According to Kotaku, which has assisted in translating the Japanese text, one fake Pokémon's name is translated to "diapers" and the other is "weight."

The latest rumor comes as the names of the Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and sixth generation Champion were "leaked." Although the names and types are interesting to the point it'll be alright if true, the information is unconfirmed and therefore should be treated as such. If true, the Champion (spoiler coming ahead) is Oliver, the father of the protagonist the player will play as. Battling against your father is not new to the series as the third-generation games featured Gym Leader Norman, who portrayed the protagonist's father.

On a trivia note, today marks the 10-year anniversary since "Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire" made its North America debut for the Gameboy Advance. The games were given a 9.5 out of 10 by IGN back in March 2003. "Ruby" and "Sapphire," respectively, ranked number two and three in the Top 10 Console Video Game Titles in 2003, according to NPD Group sales statistics.
