Sony Pictures Classics announced yesterday June 19 that it picked up North American rights to Acadamy Award winner Pedro Almodovar's new film"I'm so Excited."  

Pedro Almodóvar's new film "I'm so Excited" previously known as "The Brief Lovers" and "Standby Lovers" will be released by Sony Pictures Classic in the summer of 2013. The release will mark the eighth collaboration between ElDeseo and Sony or the ninth, if you count a movie by the SPC team under the aegis of Orion Classics. The distributor has previously released "The Skin I Live In," "Broken Embraces," "Volver," "Bad Education," "All About My Mother," "Talk to Her" and "The Flower of My Secret."  "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" was released by Orion Classics. 

The production which is set to begin in July stars Javier Cámara, Cecilia Roth, Lola Dueñas, Raul Arévalo, Carlos Areces, Antonio de la Torre, Hugo Silva, Willy Toledo, Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Blanca Suárez, José Luis Torrijo, José María Yazpik, and Laya Martí with special collaborations in cameos from Penélope Cruz, Antonio Banderas and Paz Vega.The comedy is said to be set set against a plane accident with various characters fearing for their lives and confessing their inner secrets.

 The film will be produced by Augustin Almodovar and is now expected to appear at the annual Cannes Film Festival.
