Different parents have opposing views on how to discipline their child. Some believe that grounding their child is sufficient, others say a spanking, and some even say that pouring hot sauce in their child's eyes is the right way to go.

A mother and her friend were recently arrested after allegedly duct-taping a teenage boy, forcing him to smoke marijuana and dumping hot sauce in his eyes as a form of punishment outside of Salt Lake City. The two could face additional child abuse charges as the investigation continues, according to ABC News.

"This is not discipline that any child should have to go through," West Valley Police Sergeant Jason Haur said. "It's definitely abuse."

The mother, Robin Willette Rumsey, and her friend, Krista Jean Miller, were both arrested on Tuesday for multiple felony child abuse and endangerment charges involving the 14-year-old boy. The abuse has been continuous over the past two years.

Sure it's always frustrating when a child breaks a plate or spills their juice at the dinner table, but that does not warrant Tabasco sauce to be poured in their eyes. In this case, the young boy received the punishment after breaking a glass dish. On previous occasions, he had been forced to smoke marijuana, doused in alcohol, and locked in the basement.

Some blame this kind of behavior on the abuser's own mother, but Miller's foster mother, Marsha Christensen, is in disbelief of the allegations against her daughter. "No, she was not raised this way," she said to KSL-TV.

Christensen believes the allegations are false and were made up as part of a custody battle between Miller and the child's father. The police have no information regarding the custody fight.

"This case is full of mysteries. There are a lot of questions coming up that I don't have answers to, mostly because the case is still active," Hauer said Thursday. "The arrests made two days ago with Krista and Robin are probably just the beginning of other allegations that are going to come to light in this case."

The investigation will continue until more information is uncovered, but as of now, Miller will not be permitted around the child, especially if there's any hot sauce in the near vicinity.
