The new Eevee evolution was confirmed on Feb. 12, but it appears a hint was provided as early as December.

Sylveon, the new and eighth evolution of the Eevee line, was named as the latest addition of the sixth generation Pokémon games, which will make its debut in October.

While Sylveon will be obtained in "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y," it will make a theatrical debut in a new Pikachu short in July.

The name of the short doesn't have an English translation nor a U.S. release date, but it does in Japan. Known as "Pikachu and Eievui Friends" (which unofficially translates to "Pikachu and Eevee Friends") will debut in Japan on July 13, 2013, opposite the full sixteenth Pokémon film "Extreme Speed Genesect: Mewtwo's Awakening."

The short Pikachu movie poster was released late last year, which showcased Eevee and all seven evolutions. Sylveon's full animation isn't present, but a bow is. The bow is significant as Sylveon has two bows, one on its neck and head.

The movie poster did lead to initial speculation about a new Eevee evolution, but rumors slowly phased out until this month when Sylveon was confirmed.

Sylveon and the sixth generation Pokémon game will be exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS in October 2013 across Australia, Europe, Japan, and North America.

As Latinos Post reported, the three starter Pokémon are Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie, the grass, fire, and water Pokémon, respectively. In addition to the starters, the mascots of "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" have been confirmed to be Xerneas and Yveltal, respectively.
