For iPhone, iPad, or iPod users with the devices that use the new Lightning port, there's a new option for third party charging accessories by Scosche.

Scosche has launched five new charging accessories for Apple's new standard in mobile device charging. They have 5-watt and 12-watt chargers for car and wall charging, which will fit new Apple devices. The 12-watt version promises to supply the high-power wattage to charge devices as quickly and efficiently as possible. The old 30-pin connectors are a thing of the past, unfortunately. Apple used them in their mobile lineup for almost a decade, ever since the original iPod got its first makeover.

The new 8-pin connector is smaller than the old broad 30-pin version and is reversible, making plugging in your device even easier because there is no wrong way to insert the charger. Apple has gotten some criticism for phasing out the 30 pin port in its new devices, making the masses of cables, chargers, and adaptors which Apple users have collected over the years useless. But the smaller footprint means new Apple devices won't lose so much valuable real estate on the top or bottom, which can be better used for new buttons, speakers, or other kinds of fancy gadgetry that consumers crave.

The Lightning port is on the iPhone 5, the fifth generation iPod touch, the iPad mini, the latest iPod nano, and the iPad 4.

The new Lightning chargers from Scosche will cost $24.99 for the 5-watt car charger and $29.99 for the 12-watt version. The wall chargers will run $29.99 and $34.99 for the 5-watt and 12-watt models, respectively. There's also a USB to Lightning charge/sync cable which is retractable for $24.99.
