Justin Bieber tore into Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney on Twitter after Carney said the Biebs shouldn't be upset about not receiving any Grammy nominations this year.

"He's rich, right?" Carney told TMZ earlier this week, adding, "Grammys are for like music, not for money...and he's making lots of money. He should be happy."

Bieber was pretty miffed about not getting any Grammy nominations, and made sure everyone knew about it by attempting to host his own live-stream event during the awards ceremony (and when that failed, he posted a topless photo of himself on Instagram to show just how "frustrated" he was).

Carney's jibes were apparently the last straw; Bieber tweeted, "The black keys drummer should be slapped around haha."

When Carney himself re-tweeted Bieber's comment with a sad-face emoticon, Bieber fans rushed to their snubbed idol's defense. Yahoo!'s omg! blog found some of the best responses from Beliebers:

"[CARNEY] NEEDS A PUNCH IN THE FACE WITH A BRICK," tweeted one user. Others said things like, "I no longer like you nore do I like your band" and "who are you? your a flop. Talking s**t about Justin? LMAO. leave."

Carney, whose band won three Grammys this year, including awards for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song, retweeted each of these comments.

Bieber was nominated for two Grammys in 2011, for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album, but he has never won.

Back in December, Simon Cowell came to Bieber's defense, saying he had been unfairly snubbed by the Recording Academy and should have received at least one nomination, TMZ reported. "You know what? He deserved one [nomination], I think. But they can get a bit snobby sometimes," Cowell told TMZ.

But, he added, Bieber "won't be crying too much. He's doing fine."
