Postal Service has a way of stringing their fans along gracefully, leaving them wanting more but never expecting anything. However, they continually come through and deliver, giving their fans what they want when they least expect it.

After a long, tormenting hiatus, the synth pop duo announced their reunion back in January. The band also announced that it's prepping a deluxe edition of "Give Up" this month to commemorate the album's 10-year anniversary. In addition, the duo has announced a full 2013 tour, its first in 10 years. Tour dates are listed below.

Postal Service was very sly in their announcements. Whenever asked, the two members, Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard and producer Jimmy Tamborello, refused to comment on any rumors of a reunion. When they finally announced that they would be working together once again, the simply put up a graphic on their website that read "The Postal Service 2013." They never hinted, never teased, they just did, and the fans couldn't be happier.

Fans then expected a reunion tour to coincide with new music, but once again, Gibbard and Tamborello never gave the slightest indication that they planned to release new music. This past October, Gibbard told Spinner, "There are no plans to make a second [Postal Service] record ... I can't say that enough."

But once again, what do fans get? They get what they want: new music. Their new track, "A Tattered Line of String," brings back Gibbard's unmistakable soft and melodic vocals and captures the same computerized indie synth pop sound that defined the band back in 2003. The new single, however, does not have the same droning, saddened desperation that made their previous music, as well as early Death Cab for Cuties' music, so tantalizing. The new single has the same old Postal Service sound, but with a more poppy, upbeat feel.

Regardless, it's exciting to have them back. The drought is over. The band handled their absence with grace and finally gave the fans what they wanted. True artists.
