One Tuesday, President Obama will deliver one of his most important speeches of his presidency, the State of the Union address.  Every year the President of the United States delivers this very important message to Congress and the nation, but Obama will have more riding on this one in particular.

He told House Democrats at a retreat on Thursday that his speech will focus on jobs. "I'm going to be talking about making sure that we're focused on job creation here in the United States of America." The president also indicated that he would present other issues on his agenda including education, immigration and the development of "clean energy" technology as stratgies to help job and economic growth.   He added that he plans to talk about "deficits and taxes and sequesters and potential government shutdowns and debt ceiling" as well.

Obama's upcoming SOTU speech will be shaped by the current political atmosphere.  In 2009, he was a newly elected president and focused his speech on economic recovery while addressing a joint session of Congress.  Though he reminded the country about the economic downturn caused under the Bush Administration, Obama remained optimistic and laid out his plan to deal with the economy.  In 2010, Obama called on Congress to take "another look" at his health care reform bill which was postponed due to push back from Conservatives.  In 2011, Obama stressed the imperative to "win the future" of the US through innovation and budget reforms just three months after his party took a defeat in the midterm elections.  Last year, Obama used his SOTU speech as a preface for his campaign in the 2012 election.

This speech, however, will be unlike any other of his SOTU addresses because Obama will focus on passing his most ambitious legislative agenda since first becoming president which includes new gun control measures and comprehensive immigration reform.

Get ready-Tuesday night's speech will probably be one of Obama's most memorable speeches in his career. The White House will stream the speech live on its official site.
