Thinking about skipping out on all the cheap Valentine's Day date ideas around New York City? Then you may want to romance your sweetie at Times Square in Midtown Manhattan on February 14.

The Times Square Alliance is presenting a month long celebration of "Free Love In Times Square" featuing deals and discounts on Times Square shows, restaurants, hotels and attractions.  In addition, the Alliance is hosting a vow renewal ceremony for married couples on Valentine's Day free of charge.  For the second year in a row, the ceremony will allow couples to renew their vows on the red glass steps and take a photo in front of the heart sculpture "Heartwalk."  The ceremony will be officiated by a U.S. Coast Guard captain and streamed live online starting at 6 pm.

Last year, 100 couples participated in the vow renewal, but more than 100 lovers have already signed up to partake in this year's ceremony, says the Alliance.  Couples have the option to pre-register online or simply show up since there is no limit on the number of twosomes allowed to participate.

"Times Square has always been about 'free love' in many forms -- think sailors and nurses, think New Year's Eve smooches, think Times Square's naughty past," said the Alliance President Tim Tompkins to the HuffPost.

Art lovers are also in for an extra treat throughout February with the installations of two public art pieces on display. One is a heart-shaped sculpture made of boards from boardwalks destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. The other is a short presentation of "love messages" on Times Square's LED screens each night.
