A young couple's love was violently snuffed out before it even had a chance to shine over the weekend. A California college basketball coach and her fiancé were discovered fatally shot in a car Sunday in the parking lot of the luxurious condominiums where they had recently moved into in Irvine, Calif., Fox News reported. There is currently no motive or suspects in the murders, police said.

A passerby found the bodies of Cal State Fullerton assistant women's basketball coach Monica Quan and her fiancé, Keith Lawrence, around 9 p.m. Sunday, the Orange County Register reported. They were discovered slumped over in Lawrence's white Kia on the top of a parking garage at the complex, with 27-year-old Lawrence in the driver's seat and 28-year-old Quan in the front passenger seat, Irvine Police Lt. Julia Engen said.

"It doesn't appear they were robbed," Engen explained to the Orange County Register. "There's no obvious motive."

Police added that murder-suicide has also been ruled out as a possible motive, and that the couple was shot while the vehicle was stationary.

The couple had just moved into the complex where units can cost upwards of $1 million on scholarship, police said. Quan, who attended local Walnut High School where she set the record for most three-pointers in a season and in a game, met Lawrence while both went to college and played basketball at Concordia University.

Lawrence, a graduate of Concordia's business school, was an armed public-safety officer at USC after graduating from Ventura County Sherriff's Academy.

"During his brief tenure of service here at USC, Officer Lawrence proved to be an honorable, compassionate and professional member of our department," USC Chief John Thomas said in a statement.

"We are a better department and the USC Campus Community is a safer place as a result of his service," he added.

Cal State Fullerton President Mildred Garcia offered condolences to the two families Wednesday.

"The loss of any member of the Titan family causes our community great grief, but the loss of one of our own under these circumstances is indeed tragic and heartwrenching," she said.

"We hope that Monica's family and friends will feel and be comforted by our support during this difficult time."

Cal State Fullerton will have counselors available for staff and student athletes to speak to, Garcia added.
